Mount Vernon, NY- The New York State Police is investigating a shooting that occurred on the 300 block of South 4th Avenue on Sunday August 20, 2023.As a result of this incident involving an off-duty Mount Vernon police officer, The City of Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Police Department determined it was most appropriate to request assistance from the New York State Police to lead in this investigation. Two people were shot at the location. A total of 3 people were treated at local hospitals and are now recovering. We ask that anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Troop K Public Information Officer, Trp. AJ Hicks at 845-677-7430. All information regarding the investigation will be released by the New York State Police as it becomes available.
