Mount Vernon Man Grazed in Head By Bullet

A Mount Vernon man is lucky to be alive after being grazed in the head by a bullet.

At approximately 9:20 PM, on Friday, July 22, 2022, Mount Vernon Police responded to the area of 43 East Third Street for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they located a man, later identified as 42 year old, Doren Gaines, of Mount Vernon suffering from what appeared to be a bullet, graze wound, to the back of the head. Officers immediately requested Emergency Medical Services for the victim, who was subsequently transported to Jacobi Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Mount Vernon Police Detectives are investigating this incident with the assistance of the FBI Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, Westchester County Police Department Detective Division, and Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center.
