About Us

The Comptroller, is responsible for overseeing and safeguarding the financial affairs of the City and manage the same pursuant to law and ordinances of the City Council. He shall keep a separate account with every department, and with each improvement for which funds are appropriated or raised by tax or assessment.

The Comptroller shall review, administer and coordinate all risk management through the identification of exposures, loss prevention, risk evaluation and make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding risk control and risk financing. The Department of Finance also assures fiscal integrity and compliance pursuant to law and the provisions of the City Charter.

Major Responsibilities

Major Department responsibilities include:

Billing and collection of all funds owed the City

Investment and management of the City's surplus cash and funds held in trust

Allocation of available funds and monitoring of City expenditures via the budget process

Disbursement of funds for services and goods rendered to the City

Accounting for and reporting of all funds

Debt management, including policy development, issuance and servicing

Advising City agencies on risk management issues and in certain cases, obtaining and monitoring insurance policies

Overseeing Annual Budget Appropriations

Interest & Penalties

Payment Due Date Information

All City and County tax payments are due within the month specified (School taxes are paid directly to the Board of Education). Payments received (United States Postmark) after the last collection day of the specified month will be subject to interest and penalties from the first due date.

1st Half City Tax is due without penalty no later than January 31st 

2nd Half City Tax is due without penalty no later than July 31st

Taxes for fiscal year 2022 and after can be paid online.

Taxes for fiscal years prior to 2022 can be paid online.

Partial Payments

The Finance Office is not accepting partial payments at this time.  We will update the information if there are policy changes.  

Late Payments and Interest Charges

City and County late tax payments are subject to interest charges of 1 1/2% per month, or any part thereof, from the first due date.
